semiya kheer recipe/Mango kheer Recipe/ Akshaya tritiya special/ eid special:
#semiyakheer is a very common and tasty Indian Sweet that is made at the drop of a hat for every occasion that calls for a celebration.
As #semiya Kheer is loved so much it can be made with small variations by adding a few ingredients that are easily available and adds to the overall taste of the dish.
My earliest memories with grandmom and mom for every birthday is with this quick and tasty dessert.
Earlier the #semia were also hand made and in an intricate process and experienced hand beating wheat and then rolling them thin with gentle hands and then pulling them into semiya /shyavige by placing them on a rod and allowed to dry.
I have also been given smaller portions to do the same and the memories are still very fresh.
Here is the list of ingredients that I use to make this special:
Ingredients :
- Semiya- dry roasted, preferebably thin.
- Ghee- 4- tbsp
- Sugar/jaggery- 3-4 tbsp
- Cardamom powder- 1 tsp
- Badam/Almond soaked- 5-6 / Badam powder- 2 tbsp.
- Milk- 4 Cups/ more
- Dry fruits-resins, cashews, pista etc.
- Saffron strands soaked in milk- 6-8 strands.
Method Of making :
- Roast #Semiya- 1cup in ghee - 2 tbsp.
- Roast Dry fruits in ghee.
- Add boiled milk
- Add cardamom powder
- Add saffron and almond powder soaked in milk.
-Finally add sugar or jaggery.
- Allow to boil while semiya gets cooked and soft in boiling milk.
- serve hot or chilled.
Note:
Additionally you can add # mango pulp at the end of cooking proccess.
You can add dried rose petals also
