wondered#how to make #daldhokli. here is a simple recipe for it using methi leaves.
this is a #traditional yet tasty dish which can be enjoyed hot and with ghee..as it is flavourful it just feels so yum and it has all the vital carb and protein so makes a sumptuous and fuller meal for any busy day. since it is a one pot meal it is super easy to make with some pre prep it can be made. much easily.
it is made in Gujrat,North Karnataka and Maharashtra, rajasthan and these days recipes have no boundries..

THIS Is a version where we are not using onion, garlic so this is pretty much a jain recipe but it is so tasty and want to eat more.

This dish is apt for all the special occasions where you want to have hot and comfort meal .
Dal dhokli uses dal and the chapati in a single dish. so we have to make prep for the chapati/dhokli dough.
for Dhokli lets take,
wheat flour - 1 cup
garam masala/ sambar powder- 1 tsp
salt- 1 tsp
cumin seeds- 1 tsp
Hing/asaefoetida- 1 pinch
methi leaves/fenugreek leaves.
oil- 2 tsp
water
Mix all the ingredients with water slowly and make a tight dough.
cook dal - 1 cup.
add in 2 tbsp of ground nut or peas. it will make it taste awesome.
put them in pressure cooker and allow 4 whistles.
Method of dhoklis
make small balls of dough and make chapatis cut into 2x2 cm squares alternatively you can make small puris and fold them in half.
Method of dal:
toor dal- 1 cup,
groundnut - 2 tbsp
sambar powder- 2 tbsp
chilli powder- 2 tsp
salt- 1.5 tsp
tamarind pulp - lemon sized soaked in water
Jaggery- 2 tsp
coriander chopped
ghee
oil
mustard,cumin
Hing
curryleaves for tadka
In a pan make tadka with oil, mustard, cumin, turmeric, hing and curry leaves.
once it starts splattering, add in tamarind pulp.
Add salt, jaggery, sambar powder
Allow to simmer for 5 min.
Now add the dhoklis into this simmering dal.
Allow the dhoklis to cook completely in dal for 5 minutes.
garnish with chopped coriander and ghee.
Make a single batch at a time than adding all the dhoklis at once.
This can be done by adding 1 persons dhoklis into daala and serve them hot with a tsp of oil.
Repeat the process.
