Vadapav is a famous and a very popular street chat and a delicious one too.For many Mumbaikars it is also a breakfast they would eat everyday.although there are steps involved in its preparation a little prepping helps a lot and it would come in handy. These days like most food items even this is found in the food streets and in corner chat    houses and Gujrathi chat houses. we regularly have this and dabeli in a store called Jai Mataji Farsan in Sanegoravanahalli in bangalore and in Sagar Restaurant in Rajajinagar and in vv puram food street popular for chats.

The recipe involves a potato vada/batata vada , mashed and flavored potato dipped in batter and deep fried and then that is sandwiched between pav along with some chutney and a garlic chilli powder and served along with oil fried salted green chilli. some add green and sweet chutney along as well.

Coming to the recipe of this, 

Ingredients:
For Vada:
Potatoes boiled and mashed
salt 
garlic green chillies cut 
mustard
jeera
kalonji- optional
garam masala
Batter: 
Besan flour
Rice flour
salt
Turmeric for both vada n batter.
Assemble with pav, butter, green chutney, chilli and garlic chutney powder.

oil for frying
green chilies for frying.

Method:
For vada:
First lets wash and peel potatoes -4-5
Allow potatoes to cook on hot water or in a pressure cooker
after cooking allow to cool. mash and keep aside
Meanwhile chop onion which is optional and keep a pan on stove add oil-2-3 tbsp and add mustard, jeera and kalonji allow to splatter and addonion, green chillies chopped and saute and add mashed potatoes and add salt and turmeric , garam masala -1 tsp and mix and allow to cool.
For batter:
Take 4-5 tbsp of gram flour, Rice flour-2 tbsp for crispiness. turmeric ,salt make a medium flowy batter with water.
Keep oil heated in a kadai. make small balls of potato as shown in picture and dip it in batter and fry in oil. remove from oil once fried.













Once ready take it and place it between pav  slit in between smeared with mint chutney and garlic chilli powder in between and heat  on a tava with butter or ghee.




serve with green chilli .Fry green chilli also in the oil and  sprinkle salt on it.Be careful while frying green chilli as it popps and splatters everywhere.

Delicious hot vadapav is ready to serve..!!
